Descanza en Paz

Pilot Projects is pleased to announce Descanza en Paz, an exhibition of works by Latinx visual and performing artists.  This exhibition and performance event will celebrate and honor the lives of those who have died in migration due to inhumane immigration laws and attitudes. There will be paintings, illustrations, photography, live music, dance performance and spoken word and art for sale. Tamales, conchas, horchata and beer will be available. The event suggests a donation of $15-20 at the door with proceeds going to AbolishICEPHL (noone will be turned away).

The opening reception will include live music, dance performances and spoken word poetry. Some of the artists include:

Belle Alvarez, a Honduran born, Philippine and USA raised artist, educator and activist will perform an offering for those passed through dance. Rachel O’Hanlon-Rodriguez, an actor, dancer and poet who will perform spoken word poetry. Ari Gutierrez-Sanchez, a spoken word poet whose work focuses on the intersectionality of queer identity, trauma and the latin experience as an outsider. Santiago Galeas,  born to parents from Peru and El Salvador;, creates work useing a diverse range of subjects that address varying concepts in portraiture, often including LGBTQ and racial issues. Pancho Cuacuil is a singer from Mexico who performs in náhuatl and Spanish.
